I am a 40
year old male prescribed 300mg of floxin twice daily for six weeks for a
prostate infection that was never confirmed through a culture.
As soon as
I started the regime I was dizzy and light headed but I ignored it since the
information included with the prescription said this was normal until my body
adjusted to the medication. After a few days I noticed middle and upper back
pain, along with some chest pain. Along with this was some vague stomach pain
that made me think I had an ulcer. I also after a few days began odd nightmares
while sleeping and woke in a panic one night from a dream.
Pains in
my legs and feet and hands were becoming common along with an arthritic feeling
in my toes and fingers. What made me stop the medication was the weird burning
that I was feeling in my thighs one night while lying in bed. So after one week
of 600mg a day I quit Floxin cause I felt awful on it.
I quit on a Monday and by the following Saturday the back, chest and stomach
pains had subsided but I was starting to get weird fatigue as if my blood sugar
was off somehow. I couldn't exercise cause I felt weak
and nauseous. I went to my doctor the following Tuesday and told her I stopped
the Floxin cause I felt like crap and still did with a weird weak feeling after
I would eat. Her response was Floxin could cause problems with blood sugar and
should resolve itself in a week or so. Here I am on the following Saturday. I
woke up feeling ok then ate breakfast and have felt tired and weak all day with
a headache and nausea. That is my story so far. From what I heave read about
Quinolones scares the hell out of me! I am just grateful I only took it for a
week. Hopefully there is no permanent
damage done.
