Hello.  I am a 33 year old female.  I was prescribed Avelox for a sinus infection.  I took one pill on Tuesday, one pill on Wednesday.  A few hours after taking my second pill, I developed a sunburn-like rash all over my body, which itched mildly.  My knees hurt a bit, but I didn't think much of it.  I discontinued the drug and began taking Benadryl, which didn't seem to affect my symptoms much.  Wednesday evening I developed aches in most of my joints, my hands and feet swelled up and hurt, my knees hurt so badly that going up and down stairs was a major pain.  By Thursday my symptoms seemed to be at their worst.  My rash was mostly gone, but since that point, I have had the following symptoms:

Tingling and burning in hands, feet, knees.  Extreme knee pain with popping, elbow pain, lower back pain, feet and hand pain.  The pain feels like joint pain, my knuckles turn purple when I flex them.  It is painful to put my hair in a pony tail, turn a doorknob, open a jar, put on my shoes.  I can barely open my car door, shifting hurts.  Writing hurts.

I feel like my life has been taken away.  I was a very active and healthy person before I took Avelox.

I found it interesting that you mentioned caffeine intolerance on your web site.  I have never been able to properly metabolize caffeine, and I wonder if that has something to do with the reaction I experienced with Avelox.

Thanks for the information on your site.  I just wish I had known sooner that taking a couple of pills could change my life forever.
